[Jobs] Royal Van Zanten Flowerbulb

Hi, guys! I'm going to share one of the jobs I work in Rakaia. It's a lily flower bulb packhouse. The season starts from June to August every year. During this season they will open to backpacker to apply as they need more manpower to process the lily flower bulb.
There are 3 different department which is Cleaning Belt, Weighting Counter, and Packing Lane. Lets me roughly explain all of the department job tasks.

Cleaning belt, one of the most important departments for the whole process of the lily flower bulb. In this department, you need to remove Lily's babies, mud, root, and rotten bulb. basically, all you need to do is just make sure the flower bulb is well clean and the machine will send all the flower bulb to wash one more time. Working hours for morning shift is from morning 6 am to 2.30 pm while afternoon shift from 2.30 pm to 11 pm. Weighing Counter pours out all the clean flower bulb into the conveyor belt and the machine will weight the flower bulb and put them into different baskets respectively. What you need to do is remove those too small in size and rotten flower bulb. Measure every flower bulb is clean and perfect in size. Lastly, Packing Lane is to pack all the flower bulb and ready to export to others country.

So, I am actually working under cleaning belt. Personally, think that cleaning belt is better than the others too. As cleaning belt time pass faster than the others two. Weighing Counter is the most boring department.

But this year Cleaning Belt end earlier, 10th August is our last day working in the cleaning department. Although we really happy that the hell job finally ended! At the same time, we feel emptiness too! Because every day you are engaging to your job, you wake up early in the morning prepare for work. But now you wake up without any things to do. That means we are facing unemployment again, no work no money. Anyway, we still happy that we got the chance to work here. At least during winter time, this is the most wanted job ever.

Lucky us! We have then transferred to the weight counter continue work for few more days! Although it is a night shift job still we feel blessed that we got the opportunity to replace others. Think positive, at least we earn few more day's money. After weight counter, we have been transferred to Packing Lane again. It's sound so good that everyone is actually unemployed while we still working happily.

I have been working here since 3rd July 2017 until 18th August 2017. Basically working here is nothing special but they have a problem of racist. Not so serious as compared to Malaysia. Working here is quite cold because I work for the morning shift. But the best things is when you off from work still early and the sun still haven't gone down and you can still do some grocery shopping and take your dinner. So far everything is good, hopefully, the remaining journey will be good too!

Lastly, we have been offered another opportunity to work for the machine cleaning. I can say this is the most tiring job among others! Cleaning starts Monday to Thursday, I skip a day. Too much of energy consumed. Seriously, next time after season better leave. Doing the cleaning is like hell. But overall working experience is good here. The only cons here is that every day you will dirty your clothes. psst. This is a really bad thing for people with OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder). They will provide gloves, disposable apron and also disposable arms sleeves. Every smoko (break time) they not allow you to change the sleeves and need you to wear it for the whole day. HOW CAN !!! I seriously cannot take it. If you same with me, maybe you can learn what I did. I take few pairs of disposable sleeves and put into my pocket. So I can change it secretly hahaha!! shhh. Don't tell others! That is all for my winter jobs! They will reopen back in September so if you manage to come to Christchurch why not just walk in to try your luck? See ya!
